'Aisha claimed that while they were distracted with funeral preparations for Mohammed a goat retrieved the stoning verses from under her pillow and ate them. No kidding! Do a search like - goat ate stoning verses.

1. The verse of stoning and of suckling an adult ten times were revealed, and they were (written) on a paper and kept under my bed. When the Messenger of Allah (SAWW.) expired and we were preoccupied with his death, a goat entered and ate away the paper.

It was narrated that 'Aishah said: “The Verse of stoning and of breastfeeding an adult ten times was revealed, and the paper was with me under my pillow. When the Messenger of Allah died, we were preoccupied with his death, and a tame sheep came in and ate it.” (Hasan)

"When the verses "Rajm" [Stoning] and ayah "Rezah Kabir" descended, they were written on a piece of paper and kept under my pillow. Following the demise of Prophet Muhammad (S) a goat ate the piece of paper while we were mourning.

According to some, in the Qu’ran there should have been a surah about stoning to death for married aldulterers.
However, the story goes, that the Prophet (PBUH) gave the surah for save keeping to Aysha (may Allah be pleased with her) and she kept it under her bed. When she was not in the house, a goat walked in and ate the Surah.
“When the verses “Rajm” [Stoning] and ayah “Rezah Kabir” descended, they were written on a piece of paper and kept under my pillow. Following the demise of Prophet Muhammad (S) a goat ate the piece of paper while we were mourning.” Another translation goes:
