The Presumed New Location of Mt. Sinai
« on: June 19, 2010, 10:41:19 AM »
Whether Mt. Sinai resides in it's earlier presumed location, or in it's new suggested location, it is still over 1,000 kilometers from Mecca.
Besides which, the available evidence suggests that the Sinai Peninsula was a part of ancient Arabia.

It would be preposterous to suggest that Abraham and Hagar, with Ishmael traveled to Mecca, or that any of God's people wandered across that thousand km of harsh Arabian desert more than 900 years before history records that the first caravans did, to go on pilgrimage to the pagan kaaba in Mecca, as Islam's 7th and 8th century created history fiction suggests. And more than two thousand years before Mecca was ever founded. It simply was not possible to make that journey before the wells were dug, and towns established around them, to support the travelers. That took place around the 8th to 10th century BC. That's why spices from Yemen and such, bound for the fertile crescent before that time, had to all be transported by boats.

However it would seem the jury is still not in regarding the presumptions about Mt. Sinai's suggested new location at Jabal al-Lawz.

I didn't want to leave an impression that I accept or reject it's new location, as I am not studied enough in those regards, because frankly it is of little importance to me. For the purposes of ministering to Muslims it is easier to discuss it in terms of the location that they prefer to accept, to point out that what they have been taught through the false 7th and 8th century historical fiction, is still simply not possible. That way the conversation isn't distracted by adding yet another element.
Geographically challenged Muslims on YouTube increasingly make a big deal, of this absolutely irrelevant, presumed new location of Mt. Sinai.
