Taxpayers Sue Over Islamist Propaganda in Public School

A local group of citizens is suing the school committee in Newton, Massachusetts for using Islamist propaganda as teaching materials in a public school. The group says the school's curriculum is  based on "unvetted educational materials" produced by Saudi Arabian oil company ARAMCO and the Qatari government, reported The Washington Free Beacon.

"Newton public school students are propagandized with materials that slander Israel and the Jewish people, and that falsify history to promote the Islamic religion in public schools," said the group in a press release.

The citizen's group, called Educations Without Indoctrination, further claims that the issue is being deliberately suppressed by the school committee, as the committee has repeatedly stonewalled parents.

"All that secrecy has now crossed into illegality," said Karen Hurvitz, the lawyer for the group, in the lawsuit. "For months now, dozens of Newton citizens have come before the school committee to complain about the non-objective, anti-Jewish, and Islamic religious lessons, as well as about Superintendent David Fleishman, who has refused to stop it being taught. Yet the names of all these citizens and summaries of what they said were deliberately omitted from the school committee meeting minutes month after month."

This is not the first time a public school in Massachusetts has been at the center of controversies surrounding teaching materials deemed by many as Islamist propaganda:

The Wellesley Middle School caught in a controversy when a video of a student trip to the Roxbury megamosque was released. On the trip, students were taught propaganda - among other things, that Muslim women got the vote before women in the West - by the mosque staff. The boys can be seen prostrating themselves to Allah alongside Muslim men. The video was covered extensively on Boston TV and radio. Afterwards, the school refused to tell the students that the information was incorrect.

Also in Newton, the public school system was enmeshed in a previous and similar controversy about deceptive and anti-Semitic lessons concerning Muslim women being taught to their students. Even though the curriculum was removed, school administrators again refused to tell the children the information was inaccurate.
