The Hebrew name of the Messiah is Yahshua, and by the first century Yeshua was in use.
The name of the Messiah means "YHWH saves" or "rescues" or "delivers", the entomology of which is explained in this Wikipedia article.

To our Muslim friends, why do you suppose it is that the Old Testament Hebrew name of the Messiah means "YHWH saves" or "rescues" or "delivers"?

It's a simple question for those of us that have read the Gospel, but what do our Muslim friends believe the Messiah was sent to save, deliver or rescue us from?
