Iran’s Revolutionary Guards have raised their operational readiness and are preparing for war, according to a report in the British Telegraph.

The report indicated that an order from General Mohammed Ali Jaafari, the commander of the guards, has initiated preparations for potential external strikes and covert attacks.

Western intelligence officials told the Telegraph that the Islamic Republic had initiated plans to disperse long-range missiles, high explosives, artillery and guards units to key defensive positions.

According to the officials, the order was given in response to mounting international pressure over Iran’s nuclear program. They added that preparation for a confrontation has gathered pace following last month’s report by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that produced evidence that Iran was actively working to produce nuclear weapons.

Recent explosions have added to the growing sense of paranoia within Iran, the Telegraph said, with the regime fearing it will be the target of a surprise military strike by Israel or the U.S.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Iran’s spiritual leader, issued a directive to the heads of all the country’s military, intelligence and security organizations to take all necessary measures to protect the regime, the report said.

General Jaafari responded to this directive by ordering Revolutionary Guards units to redistribute Iran’s arsenal of long-range Shahab missiles to secret sites around the country where they would be safe from enemy attack and could be used to launch retaliatory attacks, said the officials.

In addition, the Iranian air force has formed a number of “rapid reaction units”, which have been carrying out extensive exercises to practice a response to an enemy air attack.

Meanwhile, a senior U.S. State Department official, Robert Einhorn, said Monday that "strong steps" need to be taken -- urgently -- to stop Iran's headlong rush towards nuclear technology.

Einhorn, a senior adviser for non-proliferation and arms control, told reporters, "The situation in Iran has become more and more worrisome. The timeline for its nuclear program is beginning to get shorter, so it is important we take these strong steps on an urgent basis."

Einhorn’s statement is arguably the toughest yet made by the Obama administration on the Iranian subject.

An email

Netanyahu is absolutely right, but will we believe him?

“Some are prepared to accept…a world in which the Ayatollahs have atomic bombs. Sure, they say, Iran is cruel, but it’s not crazy. It’s detestable, but it’s deterable. My friends, responsible leaders should not bet the security of their countries on the belief that the world’s most dangerous regimes won’t use the world’s most dangerous weapons. And I promise you that as Prime Minister, I will never gamble with the security of the State of Israel.

“From the beginning, the Ayatollah regime has broken every international rule and flouted every norm. It has seized embassies, targeted diplomats. It sends its own children through mine fields; it hangs gays and stones women; it supports Assad’s brutal slaughter of the Syrian people; it is the world’s foremost sponsor of terrorism. It sponsors Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, and terrorists throughout the Middle East, Africa, even South America.

“Iran’s proxies have dispatched hundreds of suicide bombers, planted thousands of roadside bombs, and they fired over twenty thousand missiles at civilians. Through terror from the skies and terror on the ground, Iran is responsible for the murder of hundreds, if not thousands, of Americans.

“In 1983, Iran’s proxy Hezbollah blew up the Marine barracks in Lebanon, killing 240 US Marines. In the last decade, it’s been responsible for murdering and maiming American soldiers in Afghanistan and in Iraq. Just a few months ago, it tried to assassinate the Saudi Ambassador to the US in a restaurant just a few blocks from here. The assassins didn’t care that several Senators and members of Congress would have been murdered in the process.”

We, the servants of Jesus with Israel the servants of G-d, are all that’s left to stand against the powers of Hell. We need to pray for that little country and its people, who, except for the G-d of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are alone in the enemy’s cross-hairs.

A Christian delegation recently visited Iran, led by Pastor Joel C. Hunter, a spiritual advisor to President Obama and a mega-church leader. The Iranian regime hopes that the prospect of better relations will silence concerned Christians. When asked about the oppression of Christians, Hunter replied, “We didn’t go over there to confront people on certain issues.”

The Iranian regime’s new strategy is to project its power through careful calculation. It has learned from Ahmadinejad’s counter-productive abrasiveness. The "moderate" reputation of President Rouhani will advance Iran’s nuclear weapons program over the long-term, enticing Western businesses to invest in Iran along the way. This will stabilize the regime and spark strategic shifts in its favor.

The American-Christian community is well-organized, politically active and is one of the most powerful voices against the Iranian regime. Rouhani and his cohorts recognize that starting a new relationship with the U.S. necessitates a new relationship with religious leaders.

That is why the red carpet was rolled out for a delegation of 30 Christian leaders last month, led by Pastor Joel C. Hunter of the 15,000-strong Northland Church. Hunter is on President Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based Neighborhood Partnerships and is also on the boards of the National Association of Evangelicals and the World Evangelical Alliance.

Hunter previously fought legislation meant to stop foreign laws, including sharia, from taking precedent in court over American constitutional rights. He did so alongside a former official of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), a U.S. Muslim Brotherhood entity. Hunter therefore has a history of ignoring radical ideologies and track records in the name of interfaith engagement. He has also positioned himself as a counterforce to, in his words, “Christian Zionists.”

Any surprise that an Iranian sympathizer that is a "counterforce to, in his words, “Christian Zionists.”" (joining Nazis, skinheads, the KKK and Farrakan's Nation of Islam), is an interfaith pluralist that doesn't want to broach the subject of Christian persecution?
