Some modern "progressive" Muslims like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser and Raheel Raza are vainly wishing for a Reformation of Islam, by suggesting it could be like the protestant Reformation in Christianity. But are their wishes realistic, or even reasonable?

The Reformation in Christianity came about, in no small part, because the invention of the printing press allowed broader access to the scriptures by a wider audience. Rather than depend on what some men that were following false traditions told them the scriptures contain, people were able to study the scriptures for themselves and measure the historical deeds, dead formalism and false doctrines found in the "church" - according to scripture - and recognize that so much of it was even specifically unChristian. The Reformation was a result of a return to the fundamentals of Christianity as revealed through our Holy scriptures. Which educated and encouraged Christians to do as Jesus Christ did, and commanded, as revealed through our scriptures.

Mark 12:29  And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments [is], Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: 30 And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this [is] the first commandment. 31 And the second [is] like, [namely] this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these.  32 And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God; and there is none other but he:

In stark contrast, Dr. Zuhdi Jasser's and Raheel Raza's wishful reform of Islam would require setting aside and turning a blind eye to much of the Quran and Hadith, as well Muhammad's own behavior which they are expected to emulate, in efforts to pretend that Islam is suddenly something that it has not been throughout the last 1400 years.

Surah 9.111 Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an:.....

That surah is a flat out lie regarding the Gospel binding Christians to slay anyone (indeed to do other than to love our enemies), but as we can clearly see, for an Islamic reformation to be similar or parallel to the Christian Reformation it would require a return to the fundamentals of Islam as detailed in Is'am's religious texts, that reveal Islam as an imperialistic conquering, slaughtering, terrorizing, persecuting, subjugating, slave making and trading, female prisoner abusing, thieving, political cult of hatred, that encouraged Muhammad's followers to do as Muhammad did and commanded his followers to do.

So we don't have to wait for a modern Islamic reformation, since it is already well under way!
It's called the Caliphate of the The Islamic State. It is also manifest in Islamic nation States like Iran, Pakistan, Somalia, Afghanistan, Sudan, Qatar, Yemen and Maruitania, that have State statutes that provide the death penalty for any of their citizens that leave or even speak ill about Islam, with more Islamic nation States about to pass the same laws. The Islamic reformation is manifest in the Sharia law ruled Islamic nation States in the world today, that displaced the more moderate, peaceful, secular governments and schools that existed in the Middle East during the first half of the 20th century as manifest in countries such as what 50 years ago was a very cosmopolitan Egypt, that had a little more regard for women and basic human rights than the Sharia law ruled Islamic nation States of today.

It is obvious that since Islam is a specifically counter-Gospel, antichrist, anti-religion political cult, the only way for real reform to begin is by helping those poor sorely deluded souls overcome Satan's messenger Muhammad and come to know the love of the one true God through a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Who are these wishful "reformers" trying to fool? Who can we presume would be the ultimate arbiters of Islam? The most violent and murderous among Muhammad's followers, armed with a beheading knife in one hand supported by the Quran and Hadith in their other hand, or those whom they would consider "hypocrites" like Dr. Zuhdi Jasser and Raheel Raza, standing naked and without support from the Quran or Hadith?

It wouldn't be a stretch to suggest that the Internet is today, as the printing press was to the Reformation, allowing Muslims greater access to their books which has resulted in tens of thousands of deadly Islamic terror attacks, just since 9-11 and the formation of a Caliphate.

Sura 8:12 I will instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers: smite ye above their necks and smite all their finger-tips off them

Bukhari, V1 B2 #24 Narrated Ibn 'Umar: Allah's Apostle said: "I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle.....

Real reform in Islam could only come, by discarding the heavily abrogated 23-year 7th century, phony antichrist records of the Quran and Hadith and accepting the record of revelation of the one true God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and all of His prophets as revealed through the 1600 year record of God to mankind, whose people have followed Him through two covenants for 3500 years.

Jhn 13:35 By this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to another.

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Considering the idea of Muslim Reform is similar to the idea they used to have of rehabilitating criminals in the penal system other than seeing punishment as the key purpose of sentencing someone to do time in the penitentiary.  To Rehabilitate means "to restore as to one's former estate."  This is also similar to the definition of the word radical which means 'Root'.  Either one would be a bad thing when it comes to the idea of a Muslim Reformation.  The root of Islam is a corrupt and evil distortion of Biblical Revelation and the original practice of Islam was, in essence, the same thing that is considered Radical Islam today.  Who wants either one of those things?

There really wasnt a Christian Reformation, there was no need. The issue is that people do not follow the book, if you followed the book there would be no need for a reformation "reformation".  No to mention many of the "church fathers" were highly anti semetic. Just how politics and corruption was rampart in the Israel monarchy,  2nd Temple Judaism, Early Europe and today. That issue hasnt been rectified.

Media uses "Christian Reformation" as a way to state that Christianity was "humanized" or "less barbaric". Eluding that the "Old and New Testament" are two different books, when in reality they arent. Majority of modern day church dogma comes from Constantine and Nicea, both had no legal authority to change anything inside the church.

For you to have a Islamic reformation, you have to leave Islam.

No doubt the historical movement we call the Reformation was a direct rebellion to what the Roman church became after Constantine began the Institutionalizing of the Church.  The primary outcome of the Reformation was the Bible being again available to the masses and freeing them to reject Rome as the overseeing agent that controlled its availability to the people.  Of course, as you say there was no need for a Reformation in the purest sense that God dwells in the believer by the Holy Spirit.  It was also a stripping away of religious traditions as in infant baptism, a need for a priestly intercessor other than Christ and many other things.  As for anti-Semitism, that always depended upon how Church Authorities interpreted Pauls writings and their definition of the Abrahamic Covenants.  Even after the Reformation that has been a sustained feud, primarily among the Calvinists and those who adhere to Replacement Theology where the Church is now Israel. I have a feeling Abraham would have an argument with those folks if he were here.

But I agree totally that there is no way to reform Islam except to leave it.  Muhammad is just one of those who came along and fulfilled the words of Christ about the many false prophets who would come.  Saying 'Allah is God and Muhammad is his prophet' has no more real eternal value than following Elvis Presley.  What would it be reformed to?  A book of stolen prophecies and visions given in a cave by demons to a deranged religious zealot? Saying "There is no God but Allah and Muhammad is his prophet" has no more redeeming value than to say Elvis is God and the Jukebox is his prophet.
