The article I am linking to has some very inappropriate language in it, but [the language] only serves to prove a point. Here is a quotation from the article:
QuoteBut in Pakistan, what's even more peculiar is that the highest number of hits for some of these terms... come not from Pakistan's cosmopolitan centers, but from Peshawar, a bastion of conservative Islam
I'm not sure what to make of this article (http://www.motherjones.com/mixed-media/2013/06/gay-porn-pakistan). When I was in the military, I spent some time in Saudi Arabia and was told that secret homosexuality was common among younger (and some older) Arab men... because sex with a woman before marriage (and/or adultery) carried far more severe penalties. I don't know how true any of it was, but having seen how men and women were kept far from each other in the public eye, I guess I can understand how it would promote homosexuality.

My understanding is that adultery and homosexuality both carry the death penalty.....

....but fornication perhaps would receive more like the 100 lashes that they give some girls for being the victim of a rape.
Unless, of course, it was a Muslim man engaged in a "temporary marriage" - Mutah or Misyar - (lasting for as brief as 24 hours) which would make it OK and sanctioned by the Quraish pagan's deity "Allah".

The implication when I was in the military was that (although both carried the death penalty), it was easier for heads to turn away as long as it wasn't a man and a woman (because 'everyone was doing it').
Again, I don't know how true any of it was. I certainly didn't expect Pakistan to be the #1 googler of gay porn, though. I figured the USA would be number #1.
