Ellis Skolfield's "The False Prophet" Book & YouTube Video Discussions / Abomination of Desolation (AOD)

I downloaded The False Prophet (TFP) last year and just want to thank Mr. Ellis Skolfield for opening my eyes to the proper way of interpretating past and future events. However, I have some questions regarding AOD issues.
Can somebody tell me what's the connection between:
Dan 12:11 (NASB) "And from the time that the regular
sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination of desolation is
set up, there will be 1,290 days."
and
Matt 24:15, When ye therefore shall see the
abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in
the holy place (whoso readeth, let him understand).
The TFP concludes that the Dome of the Rock (DOR) is the AOD. As a scientist, I agree with the writer's calculations that 1,290 days should be considered years.
However, I have studied Josephus writings (for both Antiochus IV and Titus military actions). Both accounts are so identical to each other, in regard to the destruction of Jerusalem and the desecration of the Temples.
So the issue that I have is whether the AOD should be considered an "event - 70 AD" vs an "it - 688 AD".
I agree that the construction of the DOR is an insult to both Christians and Jews, just by reading the Islamic writings on the walls.
Is there something that I'm missing?
Thanks,
Dan
