Jesus' inter-triune conference
« on: June 06, 2010, 07:27:41 AM »
Many muslims will often use verses in the bible to side track a straight forward question about Muhammad, the koran, or Islam in general. Their use of obfuscation is a natural part of their religion. One of their favorite subjects they bring up is the fact that Jesus prayed to God. While it is true that Jesus did that it is not true that this is a certainty that Jesus is not God incarnate. God keeps His own council and even in the OT He confers with Himself, such as with the creation of man. But much more to the point is the fact that a little look at the original greek clears up the issue altogether.

In our KJV we see the following verse from Luke as follows:

Luk 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

A more accurate reading of the original greek renders the verse this way.

(Greek/English Interlinear (tr) NT) Luke 6:12 | egeneto <1096> (5633) de <1161> {AND IT CAME TO PASS} en <1722> taiV <3588> {IN} hmeraiV <2250> tautaiV <3778> {THOSE DAYS} exhlqen <1831> (5627) {HE WENT OUT} eiV <1519> {INTO} to <3588> {THE} oroV <3735> {MOUNTAIN} proseuxasqai <4336> (5664) {TO PRAY,} kai <2532> {AND} hn <2258> (5713) {HE WAS} dianuktereuwn <1273> (5723) {SPENDING THE NIGHT} en <1722> th <3588> {IN} proseuch <4335> tou <3588> {PRAYER} qeou <2316> {OF GOD.}

The irony is that muslims will base their belief that Jesus isn't God on verses with implicit statements and totally ignore verses that state explicitly His deity.

Hope this helps,

God bless

Could use a copy and paste in the divinity of Christ section, don't you think?

Most certainly.
