Questions about the 2nd Chiasm in Rev. from Scolfield study 4c
« on: December 05, 2010, 01:36:23 AM »
Hi I had some questions about the 2nd Chiasm in Revelation from the Scolfield study 4c.
I was wondering how do the c's and b's match up? They arent the same subjects are they? Or maybe I am missing something obvious here. Any replies are greatly appreciated. Thank you. Yahweh bless!

The video is called 4c Bfids and Chiasms- Scolfield

The seven trumpets and seven seals are the same subject. The world's judgment. The 144,000 are concerning the OT saints the great multitude concerns the NT saints. I will look into it more thoroughly but yes it would seem they are repetitions of the same subject or mirror images of OT and NT.

Doth that man love his Lord who would be willing to see Jesus wearing a crown of thorns, while for himself he craves a chaplet of laurel? Shall Jesus ascend to his throne by the cross, and do we expect to be carried there on the shoulders of applauding crowds? Charles H. Spurgeon

Just noticed you were talking about the 2nd chiasm. I will get back to you as soon as I look at it in more detail.

Ok thank you:)

I just looked at the video again and admittedly I am struggling a little with the understanding myself. I am still working on it and will try my best to give you an answer.

I think this thread should be merged with the thread that is exactly and specifically related to this subject.

As soon as YeshuaIsTheWay!! acknowledges I will move it so he doesn't think it disappeared.

Realized just now that I didn't have the whole subject in that thread so I added the rest.

From what I can tell it is a chiasm based on parallels. Isreal/Church, the saved within the Satanic Kingdom/the wicked within the Satanic Kingdom, Victory for the redeemed/Wrath for the Wicked. So instead of a chiasm based on covering the same subject twice it is a chiasm meant to draw parallels. Any thoughts?

Yes but generally they cover the same exact subject with slightly different language ie 7 trumpets, bowls, seals but this one in particular seems to draw parallels through contrasting two sides of the subject ie wicked/redeemed which is why I did not immediatly notice the chiasmic structure. To be fair it appears slightly different in the video and isn't so noticeable there.

That wouldn't surprise me regarding the video.
I see the remnant from the 12 tribes as composing the good and wild olive tree - the church.
The lion-bear-leopard "beast" describing the physical and historical things leading up to where we are in history, while the scarlet "beast" describes the spiritual condition of mankind throughout the same progression.
While redemption vs God's wrath both being about judgment.
