Facebook censorship
« on: September 25, 2011, 12:45:17 PM »
The first experience I had with censorship of my website was a couple years ago when a friend went to a Kinko's copy center to copy a part of my site but Kinko's prohibited the link and listed the site as censored.

Today I checked some hits on the free stat counter and found several from someone's Facebook page in Malaysia and found that it listed a link to historyofmecca.com as

"Warning
We recommend not visiting this link as it could be harmful to your computer or Facebook account. If you choose to visit, do not download software or enter your Facebook password. To learn more about staying safe on the internet, visit Facebook's Security Page. Please also read the Wikipedia articles on malware and phishing.

With the option to "continue" or "cancel"

Few sites could appear less to be malware so the warning is obviously a ruse to censor the site.

National censorship.
I don't know, but for several months the 3rd most hits to historyofmecca.com were from Saudi Arabia. Suddenly, overnight, the pageloads dropped to just 2 or 3 a day.
