https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1193603372https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/22286741-ortho-millennialismSince Gerald Haug's one-off eschatology stands outside of nearly 2,000 years of UNIVERSAL Christian CORE doctrine (as held by all Protestant denominations as well as Roman Catholics and Orthodox), "heresy" would seem an appropriate label. More specifically, Gerald teaches that the resurrection of the dead was over and done with in the first century, about which teaching the scriptures offer a dire warning:
2Timothy 2:17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenaeus and Philetus; 18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
What is meant by "canker" is gangrene - that such doctrine will eat at the body of Christ as gangrene - while overthrowing the faith of some in the process.
The only argument that could conceivably be brought against that clear and dire warning, is that the verse was only operative from when it was penned in around 64 to 67 AD, until 70 AD, and then after that few year period and for the following 2,000 years, Christians were expected to believe the EXACT OPPOSITE of that dire warning and instead believe that the resurrection of the dead is past already.
1Co 14:33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.
His book also offers an insufficient, shallow and confused explanation of current approaches to eschatology, while assigning various views on millennialism to them, as if they were necessarily codependent or mutually exclusive. As with many preterists, he stands up the straw man of futurism to pound down in efforts to justify his view, without much discussion of the traditional approach of historicism.
Much like preterism, and accompanying belief that God was finished with any further plan for faithful Jews during the first century, Haug's eschatology results in Roman church styled replacement theology and punitive supersessionism.
http://www.christianeschatology.com/supersessionism_replacement_theology.htmWhich generally also results anti-Zionism.
http://www.zionismchristian.com/anti_zionism.htmTypical of those that advance this error is replacing the name of the land of Israel, with 2nd century pagan Roman emperor's invention of the name "Palestine", through which he insulted the Jews he had vanquished and effort to erase the name of Israel forever.
http://www.zionismchristian.com/palestine_palestinians.htmWhat this accomplishes is to obscure the identities of the parties that are in conflict in Israel. The two parties in fact being Muslims VS Israeli Jews, Christians and non-Muslim Arabs. In other words, just like around much of the rest of the world, Muslims VS the non-Islamic world. The 1400 year running effort of the Islam's conquest of the non-Islamic world. The same old dar al-Salaam conquest of the dar al-Harb.
http://www.zionismchristian.com/palestine_palestinians.htm#the_conflictBecause of their doctrine induced blindness, anti-Zionists like Haug reject that the return of Jews to their land could be of the Lord, in spite of the matter-of-fact stunning historical fulfillment of so much prophecy, through which Christians understood Jews would be returned to their/our land centuries before that restoration ever began to take place:
John Owen 1616-1683: "The Jews shall be gathered from all parts of the earth where they are scattered, and brought home into their homeland."
Thomas Brightman 1562-1607: "Shall they return to Jerusalem again?" "There is nothing more certain: the prophets do everywhere confirm it and beat upon it."
http://www.zionismchristian.com/The anti-Zionism of Huang's spin also precludes him FROM EVEN CONSIDERING that Muhammad could be THE false prophet of the book of Revelation. Yet through the TRADITIONAL historicist approach - of all Jews and Christians to Old Testament prophecy, and as the evidence suggests was also the approach of the first 1800 years of the church and those great men of God of the Reformation to New Testament prophecy - Muhammad becomes a shoe-in as THE false prophet of the book of Revelation.
http://www.christianeschatology.com/historicism.htmIs it really such a surprise when 1/4 of mankind in the world today are required to DISbelieve Christ was crucified, and thus REJECT His shed blood, and DENY and blaspheme the Son of God as ARTICLES OF THEIR FAITH in THE false prophet Muhammad alone.
http://www.falseprophetmuhammad.com/Being taught that to confess that Jesus is the Son of God or even to pray in Jesus' name is to commit the single most "heinous" and ONLY unforgivable sin in THE false prophet Muhammad's anti-religion.
http://www.islamandthetruth.com/shirk_unforgivable_sin.htmThen through the science of hermeneutics Muhammad's Islamic kingdom "beast" comes sharply into focus as the final foe of God's people. Not some first century leader as preterists suggest.
http://www.beholdthebeast.com/the_beast.htmAs can even be confirmed mathematically:
http://www.beholdthebeast.com/mathematical_precision_of_prophecy.htmIn conclusion, suffice it to say that if someone comes into your church with Gerald Haug's unique heresy, that STANDS OUTSIDE of nearly 2,000 years of UNIVERSAL Christian CORE doctrine.....
2Co 11:4 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.
.....it would be best to deal with it just as a doctor would deal with "gangrene", and speedily remove the appendage.
