Zionism vs Anti-Zionism - Two Distinct Sides

Zechariah 12:3 And in that day will I make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all people: all that burden themselves with it shall be cut in pieces, though all the people of the earth be gathered together against it.

The above verse reads like a news headline, and there are indeed two distinct sides.

On one side is the only democracy in the Middle East, who's people are innovative, hard working, productive, highly literate, and share our western values, who are self-governed and live in freedom with self-determination, and whose faithful share our Old Testament scriptures. A country where Muslims enjoy more freedom, than Muslims do in any Muslim controlled country on earth, and who happen to be the 5th largest customer of the U.S.
Israel is the Holy Land of the prophets and patriarchs of the God of the scriptures of the Jews and Christians.

On the other side of this issue are the people who share Muhammad's ambition of the conquest and subjugation of all the people in the world to Muhammad's followers. The 1400 year long goal of Islam, as expressed by the Quran and Hadith, and as evidenced by the near conquest of the whole known world until stopped in France and Austria during the first Islamic jihad, and whose faithful adherents are responsible for over 17,000 deadly Islamic terror attacks around the world, just since 9-11. With over two million killed in the Sudan alone by the hands of Muhammad's followers, and recently another 1,000 Christians martyred on the Ivory Coast of Africa by the new Muslim government, with genocide of black immigrants beginning in Libya, all of which, of course, have nothing whatsoever to do with Zionism.
The only claim the "religion" of Islam - which was founded in the 7th century SW Arabian desert, 1200 kilometers away from the Holy Land - has to Israel is Muhammad's claim to have ridden on a fanciful flying animal from Mecca to Jerusalem to the "paradise" of his imagination and back to mecca one night, while claiming to have prayed in the temple in Jerusalem, that had been torn down almost 500 years prior to his claim.

One thing I don't believe can be honestly disputed.

"If the Arabs (Muslims) put down their weapons today there would be no more violence.  If the Israelis put down their weapons today there would be no more Israel."   Shira Sorko-Ram   Maoz Israel newsletter May 2004

In the words of a great world leader:

"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live... The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities... but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa... and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome." - by Sir Winston Churchill - The River War, Vol. II, pp. 248-50, London; Longman, Green & Co., 1899

Certainly prophetic words, as Europe secularized over the following century and, as we witness today, is falling to Islam.

Most of the discussions against Christian Zionism I come across, rather than mentioning what Jews have had to face in Israel, with random rockets, suicide market bombers and such, the primary argument against Zionism instead generally consists of blaming it on (even demonizing) dispensationalism. This generally done by preterists, and others of replacement theology, whose doctrine it would seem is as unsound as that of the futurists. This as if someone has to be a dispensationalist to be on the side of the Israelis, to be on the side of democracy, freedom and people of self-governance, and not on the side of those that are vowed to their destruction whose goal is to turn Israel into another female circumcising, wife beating Islamist slave state. Those that are today training their children to kill Israelis even pre-kindergarten.

Catholic Church anti-Zionism

Many modern Popes have been openly critical of Zionism, including Pius X, Benedict XV and Pius XII.[37] Cardinal Rafael Merry del Val reportedly explained the Church's policy of non possumus to Theodore Herzl and his emerging movement of Zionism, saying that as long as the Jews deny the divinity of Christ, the Church certainly could not make a declaration in their favor.[38] The Holy See did not establish relations with Israel until 1993 because of these issues.

Positions of the World Council of Churches

The World Council of Churches has been described by some[who?] as taking anti-Zionist positions in connection with its criticisms of Israeli policy. They believe the council has focused disproportionately on activities and publications criticizing Israel in comparison with other human rights issues[who?].[39] The council members have been characterized by Israel's former Justice minister Amnon Rubinstein as anti-Zionist, saying "they just hate Israel." "In contrast,a poll of 507 Arab-Israelis conducted by the Israeli Democracy Institute in 2007 found that 75 percent profess support for Israel's status as a Jewish and democratic state which guarantees equal rights for minorities. Israeli Arab support for a constitution in general was 88 percent.[31]"

Muslim anti-Zionism considers the State of Israel an intrusion into what many Muslims consider to be Dar al-Islam, a domain rightfully, and permanently, ruled only by Muslims.[32][33][34]

Palestinian and other Muslim groups, as well as the government of Iran (since the 1979 Islamic Revolution), insist that the State of Israel is illegitimate and refuse to refer to it as "Israel", instead using the locution "the Zionist entity" (see Iran-Israel relations). Maps of the Middle-East frequently do not show Israel. In an interview with Time Magazine in December 2006, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said "Everyone knows that the Zionist regime is a tool in the hands of the United States and British governments".[35]

The Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Mohammed Amin al Husseini opposed the Jewish immigration to Palestine before the creation of the State of Israel, and in several documented cases expressed his hostility to Jews and Zionism.[36]

Husseini of course was this guy.
