Why would God "need" anything?
God chose to reveal Himself? to mankind in the ways that He did.

Before God manifest Himself in Jesus Christ, under the old covenant, the blood of animal sacrifice atoned for sin. That's why God had the Jews build the temple on the temple mount.
The "why" isn't for us to know as much as the fact that that is how God chose to reveal Himself? to us.

If God had chosen to He could have made Jesus appear spontaneously as a full grown man, couldn't He?
Or He could have made him from the dust of the ground as He did Adam.
But He didn't.
Since you believe the virgin Mary CONCEIVED Jesus, by God, then who would you say His Father is?
