Isaiah 42 - prophecy of Mohammed?
« on: May 18, 2009, 02:04:03 PM »
A Muslim suggested that Isaiah 42, another Messianic prophecy, was actually about Mohammed.

"plz tell me what Isaiah 42 is about.lets see what it has to say:
1.he is silent in streets
2.establish justice.
3.bring judgement to gentiles
4.disgrace idolators
5.settlements of Kedar rejoice(kedar is 2nd son of Ishmael, ancestor of Muhammad)
6.man of war

I just mentioned 6 points in this prophecy that stand out,but the whole chapter is simply a perfect description of Prophet Muhammad.

Tell me if this is not him,who is it?"

The author poses an easy question to answer.

Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, [in whom] my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles.

That chapter from verse 1-17 is about Jesus, the prophesied Messiah. Of course fulfilled:

Matthew 12:17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, 18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

Verses 18-27 are about Israel as God's servant

"3.bring judgement to gentiles"

But Mohammed WAS a GENTILE who slaughtered JEWS.
And we can see the specific fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy above as detailed in the New Testament.

"5.settlements of Kedar rejoice(kedar is 2nd son of Ishmael, ancestor of Muhammad)"

The promise is IN ISAAC NOT Abraham's disowned son Ishmael. http://www.islamchristianforum.com/index.php?topic=237.0
