Daniel 9:27 and the seven year tribulation
« on: November 27, 2011, 06:30:25 PM »
Daniel 9:27 "He will make a firm covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will but a stop to sacrifice and offering, And the abomination of desolation  will be on a wing of the temple until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator"

This is the only verse in the bible that I can see as supporting the seven year tribulation. But it says "and the abomination" which already happened so this has clearly been fulfilled. Does anyone know when this verse was fulfilled, regarding the firm covenant? Was it Muhammed?

I appreciate replies. Sorry if I put this in the wrong section.

Hi Awaken and welcome to the forum! :)

That is certainly the germ of where 19th century John Darby's 7 year tribulation doctrine comes from. Without that passage there wouldn't have been such a doctrine.

If you haven't read "The False Prophet" yet I highly recommend doing that before getting into Daniel's 70th week or it will be kinda like starting at the end of the book (actually beyond). I think you will really enjoy Ellis' writing style. He is fun reading.
