Apostasy In Islam

Video on the penalty for apostasy - even in Canada. I had to post this video in GodTube because it keeps getting banned from YouTube:

Extensive article on apostasy in Islam by former Muslims:

Muammar Gaddafi was threatened with death, by emissaries of Al-Azhar University, just for rejecting the Hadith and proclaiming to follow the Quran only. It made him subject to the death penalty under the "law of renegades and infidels".

But if they turn renegades, seize them and slay them wherever ye find them; and (in any case) take no friends or helpers from their ranks;-

Apostasy

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apostate#Countries
Countries
See also: Use of capital punishment by nation

In 2011, 20 countries across the globe prohibited its citizens from apostasy; in these countries, it is a criminal offense to abandon one's faith to become atheist, or convert to another religion.[7][8] All 20 of these countries were majority Islamic nations, of which 11 were in the Middle East. No country in the Americas or Europe has any law forbidding apostasy and restricting the freedom to convert to any religion. Furthermore, across the globe, no country with Christian, Buddhist, Hindu, Jewish, agnostic or atheist majority had any criminal or civil laws forbidding or encouraging apostasy, or had laws restricting an individual's right to convert from one religion to another.[9][10][11][12]

The following are some nations that treat apostasy under their criminal laws.

    Iran – illegal (death penalty)[13][14][15]
    Egypt – illegal (3 years' imprisonment)[15]
    Pakistan – illegal (death penalty[15] since 2007)
United Arab Emirates – illegal (3 years' imprisonment, flogging)[16]
    Somalia – illegal (death penalty)[17]
Afghanistan – illegal (death penalty, although the U.S. and other coalition members have put pressure that has prevented recent executions)[18][19]
Saudi Arabia – illegal (death penalty, although there have been no recently reported executions)[15][20]
Sudan – illegal (death penalty, although there have only been recent reports of torture, and not of execution)[21][22]
    Qatar – illegal (death penalty)[23]
    Yemen – illegal (death penalty)[23]
Malaysia – illegal in five of 13 states (fine, imprisonment, and flogging)[24][25]
Mauritania – illegal (death penalty if still apostate after 3 days)[26]
Morocco – illegal to proselytise conversion (15 years' imprisonment)[27]
Jordan – possibly illegal (fine, jail, child custody loss, marriage annulment) although officials claim otherwise, convictions are recorded for apostasy[28][29][30]
Oman – legal in criminal code, but according to the family code, a father can lose custody of his child[31]

A few Islamic majority nations, not in the above list, prosecute apostasy even though they do not have apostasy laws, and only have blasphemy laws. In these nations, there is no general agreement or legal code to define “blasphemy”. The lack of definition and legal vagueness has been used to include apostasy as a form of blasphemy. For example, in Indonesia, the phrase used in the Blasphemy Law is penyalahgunaan dan/atau penodaan agama, meaning “to misuse or disgrace a religion”. Persons accused of blasphemy have included murtad (apostate), kafir (non-Muslim/unbeliever), aliran sesat (deviant group), sesat (deviant), or aliran kepercayaan (mystical believers). Indonesia has invoked blasphemy laws to address crimes of riddah (apostasy); zandaqah (heresy); nifaq (hypocrisy); and kufr (unbelief). Islamic activists have demanded, and state prosecutors have proposed, prison sentences to death as punishment for such crimes.[32][33][34]

Happened upon this today.

Narrated Abu Burda: Allah's Apostle sent Abu Musa and Muadh bin Jabal to Yemen. He sent each of them to administer a province as Yemen consisted of two provinces. The Prophet said (to them), "Facilitate things for the people and do not make things difficult for them (Be kind and lenient (both of you) with the people, and do not be hard on them) and give the people good tidings and do not repulse them. So each of them went to carry on his job. So when any one of them toured his province and happened to come near (the border of the province of) his companion, he would visit him and greet him. Once Mu'adh toured that part of his state which was near (the border of the province of) his companion Abu Musa. Mu'adh came riding his mule till he reached Abu Musa and saw him sitting, and the people had gathered around him. Behold! There was a man tied with his hands behind his neck. Mu'adh said to Abu Musa, "O 'Abdullah bin Qais! What is this?" Abu Musa replied. "This man has reverted to Heathenism after embracing Islam." Mu'adh said, "I will not dismount till he is killed." Abu Musa replied, "He has been brought for this purpose, so come down." Mu'adh said, "I will not dismount till he is killed." So Abu Musa ordered that he be killed, and he was killed. Then Mu'adh dismounted and said, "O Abdullah (bin Qais)! How do you recite the Qur'an ?" Abu Musa said, "I recite the Qur'an regularly at intervals and piecemeal. How do you recite it O Mu'adh?" Mu'adh said, "I sleep in the first part of the night and then get up after having slept for the time devoted for my sleep and then recite as much as Allah has written for me. So I seek Allah's Reward for both my sleep as well as my prayer (at night)."  (Book #59, Hadith #630)

That caused me to search - reverted

http://www.searchtruth.com/searchHadith.php?keyword=reverted&book=&translator=1&search=1&search_word=all&start=10&records_display=10

Narrated Abu Burda: Abu Musa said, "I came to the Prophet along with two men (from the tribe) of Ash'ariyin, one on my right and the other on my left, while Allah's Apostle was brushing his teeth (with a Siwak), and both men asked him for some employment. The Prophet said, 'O Abu Musa (O 'Abdullah bin Qais!).' I said, 'By Him Who sent you with the Truth, these two men did not tell me what was in their hearts and I did not feel (realize) that they were seeking employment.' As if I were looking now at his Siwak being drawn to a corner under his lips, and he said, 'We never (or, we do not) appoint for our affairs anyone who seeks to be employed. But O Abu Musa! (or 'Abdullah bin Qais!) Go to Yemen.'" The Prophet then sent Mu'adh bin Jabal after him and when Mu'adh reached him, he spread out a cushion for him and requested him to get down (and sit on the cushion). Behold: There was a fettered man beside Abu Muisa. Mu'adh asked, "Who is this (man)?" Abu Muisa said, "He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism." Then Abu Muisa requested Mu'adh to sit down but Mu'adh said, "I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and His Apostle (for such cases) and repeated it thrice. Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed. Abu Musa added, "Then we discussed the night prayers and one of us said, 'I pray and sleep, and I hope that Allah will reward me for my sleep as well as for my prayers.'"  (Book #84, Hadith #58)
http://www.searchtruth.com/book_display.php?book=84&translator=1&start=0&number=58#58

Narrated Abu Musa: A man embraced Islam and then reverted back to Judaism. Mu'adh bin Jabal came and saw the man with Abu Musa. Mu'adh asked, "What is wrong with this (man)?" Abu Musa replied, "He embraced Islam and then reverted back to Judaism." Mu'adh said, "I will not sit down unless you kill him (as it is) the verdict of Allah and His Apostle  (Book #89, Hadith #271)

That inspired a search of - renegade
http://www.searchtruth.com/searchHadith.php?keyword=renegade&translator=1&search=1&book=&start=0&records_display=10&search_word=all

Narrated Abu Huraira: When Allah's Apostle died and Abu Bakr became the caliph some Arabs renegade (reverted to disbelief) (Abu Bakr decided to declare war against them), 'Umar, said to Abu Bakr, "How can you fight with these people although Allah's Apostle said, 'I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight the people till they say: "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and whoever said it then he will save his life and property from me except on trespassing the law (rights and conditions for which he will be punished justly), and his accounts will be with Allah.' " Abu Bakr said, "By Allah! I will fight those who differentiate between the prayer and the Zakat as Zakat is the compulsory right to be taken from the property (according to Allah's orders) By Allah! If they refuse to pay me even a she-kid which they used to pay at the time of Allah's Apostle . I would fight with them for withholding it" Then 'Umar said, "By Allah, it was nothing, but Allah opened Abu Bakr's chest towards the decision (to fight) and I came to know that his decision was right." (Book #23, Hadith #483)

Ah the "most merciful, most beneficient"....

Narrated Anas: Some people from the tribe of 'Ukl came to the Prophet and embraced Islam. The climate of Medina did not suit them, so the Prophet ordered them to go to the (herd of milch) camels of charity and to drink, their milk and urine (as a medicine). They did so, and after they had recovered from their ailment (became healthy) they turned renegades (reverted from Islam) and killed the shepherd of the camels and took the camels away. The Prophet sent (some people) in their pursuit and so they were (caught and) brought, and the Prophets ordered that their hands and legs should be cut off and that their eyes should be branded with heated pieces of iron, and that their cut hands and legs should not be cauterized, till they die.  (Book #82, Hadith #794)

Then a search of - infidels

Narrated 'Ali: When it was the day of the battle of Al-Ahzab (i.e. the clans), Allah's Apostle said, "O Allah! Fill their (i.e. the infidels') houses and graves with fire as they busied us so much that we did not perform the prayer (i.e. 'Asr) till the sun set."  (Book #52, Hadith #182)

Poor boys so busy with slaughter that they couldn't pray to Muhammad's "Allah" till sun set.

Narrated Sahl bin Sad: That he heard the Prophet on the day (of the battle) of Khaibar saying, "I will give the flag to a person at whose hands Allah will grant victory." So, the companions of the Prophet got up, wishing eagerly to see to whom the flag will be given, and everyone of them wished to be given the flag. But the Prophet asked for 'Ali. Someone informed him that he was suffering from eye-trouble. So, he ordered them to bring 'Ali in front of him. Then the Prophet spat in his eyes and his eyes were cured immediately as if he had never any eye-trouble. 'Ali said, "We will fight with them (i.e. infidels) till they become like us (i.e. Muslims)." The Prophet said, "Be patient, till you face them and invite them to Islam and inform them of what Allah has enjoined upon them. By Allah! If a single person embraces Islam at your hands (i.e. through you), that will be better for you than the red camels."  (Book #52, Hadith #192)

Muhammad had hundreds of thousands slain at his behest, for his alter-ego "Allah".

Narrated Hudhaifa: The Prophet said (to us), " List the names of those people who have announced that they are Muslims." So, we listed one thousand and five hundred men. Then we wondered, "Should we be afraid (of infidels) although we are one thousand and five hundred in number?" No doubt, we witnessed ourselves being afflicted with such bad trials that one would have to offer the prayer alone in fear.  (Book #52, Hadith #293)

Imagine. 5,000 converts just like that!

While possessing a great imagination when it came to creating a paradise and hell, I guess he didn't possess the same when it came to poetry, delegating it instead ....

Narrated 'Aisha: Once Hassan bin Thabit asked the permission of the Prophet to lampoon (i.e. compose satirical poetry defaming) the infidels. The Prophet said, "What about the fact that I have common descent with them?" Hassan replied, "I shall take you out of them as a hair is taken out of dough." Narrated 'Urwa: I started abusing Hassan in front of 'Aisha, whereupon she said. "Don't abuse him, for he used to defend the Prophet (with his poetry)."  (Book #56, Hadith #731)

Back to the killing of infidels..

Narrated Ibn 'Abbas: regarding the Statement of Allah:--"Those who have changed Allah's Blessings for disbelief..." (14.28) The people meant here by Allah, are the infidels of Quraish. ('Amr, a sub-narrator said, "Those are (the infidels of) Quraish and Muhammad is Allah's Blessing. Regarding Allah's Statement:"..and have led their people Into the house of destruction? (14.29) Ibn 'Abbas said, "It means the Fire they will suffer from (after their death) on the day of Badr."  (Book #59, Hadith #315)

Evil.  Pure evil.  It makes me wonder why Western Muslims can't see what a true Muslim does.  I talked to Azeez and he refuses to examine the history of Eastern Islam.  If you want to know the true meaning of Islam, go to its origin, Saudi Arabia (Mecca).

Also, I can sum up what Islam is real easily.  Just read Sura 8 and 9.  Sura 9 overrides EVERYTHING ELSE so, any peace verses you may read anywhere else in the ENTIRE Quran are nullified or replaced by Sura 9.

Simple.  Very simple.  Yet new Western Muslims have absolutely no clue about this little tid bit.

The hadiths are quite clear. mo wanted apostates killed.

The reason why executing apostates has always been well-ensconced in Islamic law is that there is an indisputable record of Muhammad and his companions doing exactly that according to the reliable Hadith. According to verse 4:80 of the Quran: "Whoso obeyeth the Messenger obeyeth Allah."

Bukhari (52:260)- "...The Prophet said,'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.' " Note that there is no distinction as to how that Muslim came to be a Muslim.

Bukhari (83:37)- "Allah's Apostle never killed anyone except in one of the following three situations:(1) A person who killed somebody unjustly, was killed (in Qisas,)(2) a married person who committed illegal sexual intercourse and (3) a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle and deserted Islam and became an apostate."

Bukhari (84:57)-[In the words of] "Allah's Apostle,'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'"

Bukhari (89:271)- A man who embraces Islam, then reverts to Judaism is to be killed according to "the verdict of Allah and his apostle."

Bukhari (84:58)- "There was a fettered man beside Abu Muisa. Mu'adh asked,'Who is this (man)?' Abu Muisa said,'He was a Jew and became a Muslim and then reverted back to Judaism.' Then Abu Muisa requested Mu'adh to sit down but Mu'adh said,'I will not sit down till he has been killed. This is the judgment of Allah and His Apostle (for such cases) and repeated it thrice.' Then Abu Musa ordered that the man be killed, and he was killed. Abu Musa added,'Then we discussed the night prayers'"

Bukhari (84:64-65)- "Allah's Apostle:'During the last days there will appear some young foolish people who will say the best words but their faith will not go beyond their throats (i.e. they will have no faith) and will go out from (leave) their religion as an arrow goes out of the game. So, wherever you find them, kill them, for whoever kills them shall have reward on the Day of Resurrection.'"

Abu Dawud (4346)- "Was not there a wise man among you who would stand up to him when he saw that I had withheld my hand from accepting his allegiance, and kill him?" Muhammad is chastising his companions for allowing an apostate to "repent" under duress.(The person in question was Muhammad's former scribe who left him after doubting the authenticity of divine "revelations" upon finding out that he could suggest grammatical changes. He was brought back to Muhammad after having been captured in Medina).

Reliance of the Traveller (Islamic Law) o8.1 - "When a person who has reached puberty and is sane voluntarily apostatizes from Islam, he deserves to be killed." (o8.4 affirms that there is no penalty for killing an apostate).

Now that Muslims are becoming emboldened as the Caliphate of The Islamic State picks up steam, they are becoming more up front about Islamic jurisprudence:

Quote
Correct me if I'm wrong, isn't an apostate issued capital punishment if he is actively involved in harming the Muslims?

Also, didn't the Prophet (SAW) issue capital punishment to the apostates, belonging to the tribes of 'Ukal and 'Urainah, for murdering shepherds and mutilating the corpses?

Is Apostasy a Capital Crime in Islam? | Fiqh Council Of North America

No, that's incorrect. a murtad is executed regardless of whether he attempts to harm the muslims or not.

They had their eyes poked out and their hand and foot cut off from opposite ends and left in the desert to die yes.

That article is written by modernists who attempt to pull the wool over the eyes of people who don't have knowledge of the deen.

There are numerous authentic explicit ahaadeeth about killing murtaddeen apart from the ones mentioned in that article.

When a Muslim Brotherhood operative says:  "We don't put people to death for apostasy in Islam" they believe that dissimulation/taqiyyah is technically true. What they put people to death for is finding out they have apostatized.
