Jesus was about to be scourged and crucified, dead and buried. That all came to pass and then the things that they would have had difficulty understanding until after they again received Him in his glorified body. Beginning while He was still here were such things as:

After that, the Spirit of Truth - the Comforter - the Holy Ghost, filled them and fulfilled the role that Jesus provided for them to guide them in truth.

The Holy Spirit is God's Spirit. It is a part of God that fills and guides His people in Jesus name. Here is God's Spirit in creation, for example:
