Son of Man
« on: March 08, 2010, 07:52:10 AM »
"Son of man" is a title that was given to Yeshua in the Old Testament, through one of Daniel's prophetic dreams of the Messiah. Easily recognized in the light of the New Testament.

Daniel 7:13 I saw in the night visions, and, behold, [one] like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and came to the Ancient of days, and they brought him near before him. 14 And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him: his dominion [is] an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom [that] which shall not be destroyed.

I pulled just a few "Son of man" verses out in a reply to a Muslim and thought they might be handy in this section.
Here is a post with all the verses.

If Yahshua is not Yahweh how can the Son of man forgive sins? Matthew 9:6 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

If Jesus is not God how can the Son of man be Lord of the sabbath day? Matthew 12:8 For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

If Jesus isn't God how can the Son of man send forth His angels? Matthew 13:41 The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

If Jesus wasn't crucified, how could the Son of man be risen from the dead? Matthew 17:9 And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

If Jesus isn't God how could the Son of man save the lost? Matthew 18:11 For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

If Jesus didn't sacrifice Himself to save us from our sins, how is it the Son of man ransomed His life for us? Matthew 20:28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.

Num 23:19    God [is] not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do [it]? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?

In the context of this verse, the Hebrew means that God is not of, or from, a human being the way that the rest of human beings have been born - after Eve. However God manifest, or revealed Himself, in the flesh, in Jesus Christ. http://www.islamandthetruth.com/gospel_of_john.htm

While Muslims and Christians all understand that a human being named Mary was used as a vessel in which Jesus was conceived and born, Muslims and Christians also both agree that Mary's conception of Jesus Christ was strictly by the hand of God, unlike any human being in the history of mankind.

In Old Testament prophecy

Isaiah 53:5 But he [was] wounded for our transgressions, [he was] bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace [was] upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. 6 All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. 7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth. 8 He was taken from prison and from judgment: and who shall declare his generation? for he was cut off out of the land of the living: for the transgression of my people was he stricken. 9 And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth.

New Testament fulfillment

1Pe 2:22 Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

Compare that with Mohammed and his "Allah" who declared himself the greatest of deceivers

If Nabeel had had the time to explain what was later dubbed the "trinity", through a couple of verses, it might have helped:

Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. 19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

The poor Muslim was working through a script he wrote in his head through the words of others, otherwise he would have recognized that he had put God in a box, and limited his power.

Manifest in the flesh of Jesus Christ wasn't the first time God manifest Himself in the flesh in this world.
