Who is the woman in scarlet spoken of in Revelation 17?  What is the significance of Babylon and the unfolding of the destruction of Babylon, the merchants weeping from a far seeing the smoke rising, etc?  I don't recall hearing this part in Bro Ellis' videos.  Any help is appreciated!  God bless!

Ellis' take is that it is what he calls the "visible" church or what one might call the "institutional" church.

Thanks Peter.  There seems to be some uncertainty surrounding the complete picture of the Harlot.  If she is the "visible church", as Ellis believes, how would that reconcile with Rev 18 and everything it describes there.  In my mind at least, it is hardly the "visible church" that controls the prosperity of the nations.  Why would godless, "merchants" weep at the fall of the Church, when they hate the church already?  Wouldn't they celebrate this instead?  Maybe I'm taking this too literally.  Not sure I understand this part fully.
