If ISIS Came to Your Town Would You Convert to Islam?

"If ISIS Came to Your Town Would You Convert to Islam?

You might expect a group of teenagers to say they'd stand up to the Islamic State and refuse to convert. But what would you do if push came to shove?

So here’s the scenario.

A teacher in Italy taught her class of 13-year olds all about the Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL). At the end of the project she asked her 25 students what they would do if the Islamic State took over their town. All but two reportedly said they would convert to Islam.

It’s somewhat tragic that a mix of classroom education and possibly some media exposure to ISIS barbarism would suck the bravado out of all the kids, other than two die-hard Catholics. But that’s the effect of the threats and actions of ISIS."

I'd say that those kids are likely unaware of anything more important than the natural urge to simply survive to the next day. Easy pickings for the likes of ISIS.

What if they took hold of your wife, your sons and daughters and said "convert or they die while you watch and listen!" ? It's one thing to forsake your own life but what of others?

A dreadful thing to imagine but how strong would you be? And if you give ground to evil, you know it will always want more...

Eusebius, moreover, writing of the death, not only of Peter, but also of his wife, affirmeth that Peter, seeing his wife going to her martyrdom, (belike as he was yet hanging upon the cross,) was greatly joyous and glad thereof, who, crying unto her with a loud voice, and calling her by her name, bade her remember the Lord Jesus. Such was then, (saith Eusebius,) the blessed bond of marriage among the saints of God. And thus much of Peter. - Foxe's Book of Martyrs, First Persecution under Nero

Timothy, a deacon of Mauritania, and Maura his wife, had not been united together by the bands of wedlock above three weeks, when they were separated from each other by the persecution. Timothy, being apprehended, as a Christian, was carried before Arrianus, the governor of Thebais, who, knowing that he had the keeping of the Holy Scriptures, commanded him to deliver them up to be burnt; to which he answered, "Had I children, I would sooner deliver them up to be sacrificed, than part with the Word of God." The governor being much incensed at this reply, ordered his eyes to be put out, with red-hot irons, saying, "The books shall at least be useless to you, for you shall not see to read them." His patience under the operation was so great that the governor grew more exasperated; he, therefore, in order, if possible, to overcome his fortitude, ordered him to be hung up by the feet, with a weight tied about his neck, and a gag in his mouth. In this state, Maura his wife, tenderly urged him for her sake to recant; but, when the gag was taken out of his mouth, instead of consenting to his wife's entreaties, he greatly blamed her mistaken love, and declared his resolution of dying for the faith. The consequence was, that Maura resolved to imitate his courage and fidelity and either to accompany or follow him to glory. The governor, after trying in vain to alter her resolution, ordered her to be tortured, which was executed with great severity. After this, Timothy and Maura were crucified near each other, A.D. 304. - Foxe's Book of Martyrs, Tenth Persecution under Diocletian

It certainly doesn't require imagination when this Christian pastor (that had planted 7 churches in Syria) had to stand by and watch, first as his 12-year-old son's fingers got cut off.

"He was later crucified with his father. Ten others were killed, including two women, who were raped in front of a crowd before being beheaded.
Reports have emerged about the brutal killing of 12 Christians, including a 12-year-old boy, by the Islamic State in Syria."
